Enjoy a Tokyo Bay Cruise on Mikawaya’s Yakatabune
For foreign nationals resident in Japan, visiting tourists to Japan, and anyone who loves Japanese culture.
This is the official website of Yakatabune Mikawaya, where you can find out about what makes a Tokyo Bay cruise on a yakatabune so fascinating.
In 2020, Tokyo will once again host the world’s largest sporting event for the first time in 56 years. Situated in the Far East, Tokyo is one of the biggest cities in the world, with a booming economy as it gears up to host the Olympics for a second time, more than 50 years after the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Among the entertainment offered by Tokyoites as part of their omotenashi (hospitality) to visitors from around the world is the yakatabune, enjoyed by people in Tokyo for over 150 years, since the Edo period of samurai and geisha. A yakatabune is an old-fashioned houseboat where you can enjoy a Tokyo Bay cruise, a journey on Tokyo Bay.
On a yakatabune you can have a fascinating time enjoying Japan to the fullest. The views of Tokyo Bay vary significantly in each of the four seasons and a Japanese-style party held on a yakatabune offers the perfect way for you to get to know the city, culture, history and traditions. Why not experience the unique tastes of Japan on a Tokyo Bay cruise? Yakatabune Mikawaya promises to extend the highest level of omotenashi to foreign nationals resident in Japan as well as visitors from around the world.
About the Two Plans at Yakatabune Mikawaya:
Yakatabune Mikawaya offers a choice of plans depending on the number of people. For those travelling alone or in a small group, the shared ride plan is the best option. The shared ride plan provides the opportunity to meet not only Japanese people but tourists from different countries too, making your trip in a foreign country even more exciting.
While the shared ride plan is suitable for up to 19 people, for groups of 20 people or more we recommend the chartered boat plan. The chartered boat plan enables you to enjoy full privacy with your close friends. A choice of menu is available: regular dinner menu with tempura and sashimi main course, or add sushi for the sushi dinner menu.
If you prefer, you may bring your own food, and enjoy eating familiar dishes from your own country. Enjoy the traditional Japanese yakatabune whichever way you please.
